Ways of recognizing online volunteers' contributions
Showing appreciation for your online volunteers’ contributions and dedication is an important source of motivation. You can, for example…
Issue a certificate of appreciation
Through the Online Volunteering service website, organizations can issue their volunteers a certificate of appreciation. The certificate features the title of the opportunity, the volunteer’s name and your organization’s name and logo.
Feature contributions
A great way of showing your appreciation is to publish your online volunteers’ stories on your website or to mention the contributions they have made to the project in your organization’s newsletters or reports.
Include a “thank you” note
Add a short sentence about the online volunteers’ support in brochures, leaflets, newsletters, websites and other products to which they contributed, e.g.: “We thank our online volunteer [name of the volunteer] for editing this report”.
Inform volunteers about the difference they made
Tell your volunteers how their contribution was used or how you plan to utilize it in the future. For example if an online volunteer drafted a proposal that attracted funding, make sure you inform him/her of the impact he/she has made to your organization.
