Contribution to MDG7: Ensure environmental sustainability
Seven online volunteers, experts in electrical engineering, life sciences and international commerce, helped the Benin-based NGO Africavenir materialize the idea of turning pig waste into energy. The project addresses the contamination of groundwater and the emission of greenhouse gases and odours through pig breeding, while at the same time producing environmentally-friendly electricity from a renewable energy source.
Engineers Without Borders Team
Contribution to achieving MDG 8: Develop a global partnership for development
Ten online volunteers have made critical contributions to the work of Engineers Without Borders, an NGO in Cameroon, by supporting the design of a Knowledge Centre for Development that will foster the promotion of science and technology in African development and by developing a new website.
Grace Foundation Nigeria Team
Contribution to achieving MDG1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

Online volunteer Ayesha Zaheer has been instrumental in shaping the visual communication of Grace Foundation. The graphic designer from Pakistan has designed a wide range of communication materials for Grace, a Nigerian NGO, which works to empower communities through the promotion of self-sufficiency of underprivileged and low-income families.

Ten online volunteers are engaged in the work of Grace Association, Pakistan, contributing in different ways to strengthening the NGO’s capacities to improve the quality of life of marginalized and vulnerable communities in less developed parts of Northern Pakistan.
Kitega Community Centre Team
Contribution to MDG4: Reduce child mortality and MDG5: Improve maternal health
Sharing their diverse expertise, six online volunteers helped advance the Kitega Community Centre’s (KCC) project of establishing a health care centre in the village of Kitega, Uganda, to provide low-cost medical services to the rural community.
New Life Team
Contribution to achieving MDG1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Online volunteer Prajwal Baral coordinated an effective Internet marketing campaign, which helped the Indian NGO New Life attract people to run for its cause at the Sunfeast World 10K Bangalore Marathon 2009. Through the event, New Life was able to raise awareness and a considerable amount of funds for its projects such as medical assistance to children with disabilities, and early learning centres for the children of vulnerable groups.
Shine A Light Team
Contribution to MDG8: Develop a global partnership for development
"Life’s Roulette” is a motion picture written, acted and filmed by Colombian ex-child soldiers in collaboration with the NGO Shine A Light. A team of thirteen online volunteers translated the film into nine languages, including Pashto, Tamil, Serbian, Arabic and Hebrew. Today, hundreds of NGOs worldwide are using the film in their peace building work.
Teach A Man To Fish Team
Contribution to MDG2: Achieve universal primary education
Online volunteer Loai Farajallah, a second generation refugee from the occupied Palestinian territory living in Jordan, has been providing continuous IT support to Teach A Man To Fish (TAMTF) by building data management systems. TAMTF is a British NGO that supports schools in developing countries to increase their financial self-sufficiency, combining class-based lessons with student-run businesses.
Working To Empower Team
Contribution to MDG6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
Thanks to online volunteer Adriana Palacios, over 600 organizations from more than 80 countries have gained access to the educational materials and resources developed by Working To Empower, a Canadian youth-led NGO that supports local community responses to HIV/AIDS.
Young People We Care Team
Contribution to achieving MDG 8: Develop a global partnership for development
A team of eight online volunteers helped Ghana’s youth-led NGO Young People We Care (YPWC), to develop a strategic proposal to address youth migration issues and involve youth in international dialogue and decision-making.
