Grace Foundation Nigeria Team
Ayesha Zaheer
Online volunteer Ayesha Zaheer has been instrumental in shaping the visual communication of Grace Foundation. The graphic designer from Pakistan has designed a wide range of communication materials for Grace, a Nigerian NGO, which works to empower communities through the promotion of self-sufficiency of underprivileged and low-income families.
Ayesha’s first task was designing the brochure for Grace Foundation’s capacity and leadership development programme for women. “Joan Oviawe, the Executive Director, was very helpful in outlining the requirements for the design and we instantly hit it off from there! All I asked of her was to keep the work flowing and she did!” says Ayesha. The NGO further called on her talents to create logos, business cards, letterheads, website pages and publications. In addition, Ayesha’s support was critical for the success of a campaign for which she designed all promotional materials, including name tags, T-shirts and posters. Through the campaign, Grace Foundation was able to raise $ 50,000.
“Ayesha has really become a vital member of the Grace Foundation team,” says Joan Oviawe. “She was initially asked to help us for a short period of time; she has since remained a steadfast supporter of our work and continues to provide invaluable graphic designs. Ayesha’s contributions to our organization are immeasurable and she truly epitomizes what volunteerism is all about: professionalism, compassion, capability, enthusiasm, patience, expertise, integrity, and a great sense of humour! It’s truly been remarkable working with Ayesha. She is a tremendous asset to our organization. She continually goes the extra mile to help us.”
Ayesha Zaheer, native of Pakistan / living in U.A.E., Dubai: “Despite having a successful career as creative head of a television channel, I have always felt something lacking; the need to do more, the need to connect with people who are desperately in need of help. I start my day at work at 8:00 p.m. and before getting into the daily office routine I take out 1-2 hours daily for Grace Foundation. Each task I have done has elevated my belief and given me the satisfaction that together our goals to reach out to the needy people are truly vision turned into reality. My everyday life has a purpose now, I have come to experience the problems of the needy and to be a part of their lives in every possible way I can by creating awareness for them.”
