Spanish Translation

We have a need for an English-to-Spanish translator to translate proposals, brochures, reports, etc. relating to our work helping rural Nicaraguan communities build their own drinking water systems. Native Spanish speaker with experience in Central America preferred.

Economic Survey, Fundraising

We are a Development Organization working in Humanitarian Aid, Rehabilitation and Development conducting development projects financed by public and private donors all over the world. We are looking for a volunteer for a bilateral donor survey to finance programmes and projects in South East Europe. Particular focus on accessible bilateral funding sources of those European Governments which do not have a national XYZ Office.

Database / Information System Development

ABC helps communities worldwide gain access to basic resources health care, clean water, nutritious food, shelter and education) needed to sustain life and prevent illness. We are looking for an Information Systems Specialist, to develop an information system that identifies and links service providers in Southern Africa with orphans and street children in need of the services. A component of this database will be a computerized registry of orphans and street children.

Creative Writing, Development of Teaching Material
XYZ is a development organisation committed to rural poverty alleviation and the promotion of rural development in an African country (ABC). The volunteer would be writing short stories to be published into books for children in primary schools in rural ABC. We could have about 20-30 short stories per book and it is important that these stories carry relevant and appropriate images (drawings). It´d be recommendable that the volunteer be able to blend other cultures with those of Africa in their writings. The aim of this project though is to improve the reading as well as the English language skills of children in the rural areas of ABC.

Online Medical Advice

We are a development organization in East Africa focused on improving the quality of life of children in need, in the context of extreme poverty, oppression and deprivation. The online volunteer will provide technical input on health related issues which impact the implementation of water/sanitation initiatives at the local community. English required, Kiswahili an advantage.

Marketing Research

An indigenous Andean Development Organization carries out long term projects approved by the communities involved. One of these projects is production of textiles woven in a traditional way by the Club of Mothers of FGH. The volunteer would help in locating addresses of interested places for selling these textiles overseas.

Online Educational Tutor

Using the Internet as a tool, provide appropriate supplemental learning experiences that aim to improve the grades and study habits of children placed in a treatment foster care setting. Commitment: 10 months required (September-June); 2-4 hrs/week required. Experience: Creating/maintaining a small Website desired; coaching and/or skill-based instruction required. Skills: Planning, time management and (text-based) communication skills required. Interest in working with challenging youth, patient, responsible, enthusiastic, non-judgmental and ability to execute one's role in an ethical, confidential manner required.

Online Research

Using various online search engines and directories, gather information on various topics and organizations that relate to the work of the XYZ Project, which mainly relates to Community Service and Volunteering, Computers/Technology and Disability issues. Often, this research leads to new materials for our Web site. Excellent attention to detail and love of online surfing a must. All assignments require a great deal of reading. Each assignment requires a minimum of five hours in one-two weeks.
