Outstanding Online Volunteers for 2004 Named

BONN, 17 May 2004 -- The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme today announced the 2004 "Online Volunteers of the Year". The 10 individuals hail from Australia, India, Kenya, the Philippines, Spain, the United States and Zimbabwe and were singled out for their outstanding contributions to organizations in Asia, Africa and Latin America , via UNV's Online Volunteering service.

UN Volunteers and OneWorld to bolster Southern voices

BONN/LONDON, 12 February 2004 -- The UN Volunteers (UNV) programme and OneWorld International have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen ties and foster an enhanced flow of information through online volunteering. Both organizations hope to expand the delivery of information and exchange of experiences and best practices within and about the volunteering sector.

UNV and NetAid Announce Move of OV Service

The Online Volunteering (OV) service, jointly developed and operated by NetAid and the UN Volunteers (UNV) programme, will move entirely to UNV early next year. This management shift will allow UNV to further develop the service, while enabling NetAid to pursue a range of complementary volunteering activities.

NetAid and United Nations Volunteers Programme Honor Outstanding Online Volunteers

NetAid and the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) programme today announced the names of the "Online Volunteer of the Year" (OVY) awardees for 2003. These 10 volunteers were singled out for having performed outstanding work for poverty-fighting organizations around the world through NetAid Online Volunteering (OV), a free service jointly managed by NetAid and UNV. This program employs high-tech resources to connect skilled volunteers with organizations that need their help.
