Background and objectives
We are looking for online volunteers to conduct English classes on skype for children and youth in Tamil. Online Volunteers best suited for this opportunity are those who can converse in Tamil and good command of English. Volunteers must be willing to make a commitment. Classes are held between 6-8 pm IST (Mon-Sun). You are required to teach 2 consecutive days Please apply only if these timings suit you. Orientation will be given to all the volunteers. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype or phone. Please note that you will be given a certificate or provided with a letter of recommendation only after you have logged in 100 hours of work over your service period. Absolutely, no exception will be made to this policy.
Teaching and training
The mission of Ann Foundation is to give the right platform and learning opportunities to children, youth, physically disabled, and the underprivileged to attain their highest potential in their lives. Offering online English classes is part of our literacy project for children and the youth. We hope to empower them by educating them and developing their personalities. Online Volunteers will teach English and instill confidence in these children to pursue their goals.
Volunteers: 10 needed
1-5 hours per week / 52 weeks
Fluency in Tamil and English is required as the children are beginners. Some experience in teaching would be well looked upon but not necessary. Bear in mind that the children consider online volunteers as their teacher, friend and a mentor, therefore only committed online volunteers should apply.

Before jumping in as an online volunteer, make sure you have:

Access to the Internet and the right tools. You’ll need reliable Internet access, as well as regular access to a communication device, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. 

Time. Decide how much time you can realistically devote to your online volunteering activities. Once you select a daily or weekly time range, you’ll be counted on to honour your commitment.

Availability. You’ll need to make yourself available for any teleconferences, meetings or check-ins required by the organization for which you’re volunteering.
