The goal of this project is to HAVE POLLUTION FREE OCEANS FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. The overall objective is to develop innovative solutions to help stop plastic from reaching waterways through improved recycling, waste management, or other means with effect to behavior change in key stakeholders. Approximately 10–20 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans each year. A recent study conservatively estimated that 5.25 trillion plastic particles weighing a total of 268,940 tons are currently floating in the world’s oceans. We believe that a real solution lies in Education through sensitization and awareness creation because everybody can play a role and has the possibility, the potential, and the responsibility to be part of the solution. Therefore this project will focus on Education programs in the reduction of the amount of plastic entering our oceans. The project is to be implemented in schools and with youth groups in Nigeria with the aim of teaching the future stewards of our planet about the current situation of our oceans in regard to plastic pollution and to show them ways of how to reduce their plastic footprint.
