Background and objectives
The volunteers will be looking for donors, partners and well wishers who could partner with our CBO and sharing relevant information and links. This will be done through emails, skype calls and teamwork with volunteers. They will help us prepare for connecting relevant funding agents that can be useful to our project. They will also coach us on how to write a winning proposal. Online volunteers will not be requested to submit funding requests on behalf of our CBO.
Outreach and advocacy
Resource mobilization, partnership and donor coordination
Destiny Shapers CBO is a community based organization located in Korogocho slums in Nairobi Kenya. It operates in three main thematic areas namely: Basic Education,Parental Empowerment and Health/Nutrition. Our objectives include: To ensure children get quality and relevant foundation in their Early Years as a way of being grounded in basic education. 40% of children of school going age in the urban slums cannot access basic education due to lack of enough learning centers. We provide at least 2 meals in a day as way of ensuring no child goes to bed hungry. This acts as a motivating factor for them to come to school as well as boasting their health. We minimize cases of malnutrition. Destiny Shapers CBO was started in the year 2014 with 23 kids and 3 volunteers. The number has risen to 160 with 14 volunteers serving as staffs. We have gotten two grants so far with no donor yet.I am certain we can get a number of donors if the right proposal is done.
