Background and objectives
GANHRI, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have enjoyed a strategic tri-partite partnership since 2011 in support of National Human Rights Institutions. The flyer will help enhance the visibility of the partnership, which is at the service of the national human rights institutions that are nationally based and that work for the promotion and protection of human rights. The content is already drafted (but might be amended after the first design of the flyer). More information on the partnership can be found on our website.

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) was established in 1993, and previously known as the ICC (International Coordinating Committee), GANHRI promotes the role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) worldwide, providing a forum for its members to interact and exchange, as well as facilitating their engagement with international organisations. Members officially adopted on 22 March 2016 the new name Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI). The Global Alliance is formed by all the NHRIs member of the four regional networks. Member NHRIs in full compliance with the Paris Principles (‘A’ status) are entitled to become voting members and to hold governance positions. NHRIs partially in compliance with the Paris Principles (‘B’, ‘C’ and no status) can participate in the meetings but are not entitled to vote or to hold governance positions. Your contribution will help us get better to reach out to our members, partners and the general public.

Most organizations find the volunteers they need within just a few days and close the opportunities to more applications. So if you see a project that interests you, apply right away and make sure that you show the organization that you have the right skills and motivation for the task!

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV.
