Requirements
We are looking for 2 volunteers to translate GNDR’s new website from English to French. The website is 25k-long and the work will be splitted up between 2 volunteers. We expect this translation to be completed in two months. Volunteers are not expected to translate more than 4 hours a week, therefore after receiving training, orientation, and guidance from us to improve their CAT tools and translation skills, they will be able to work at their own pace and on a flexible schedule. In order for your application to be considered, please submit your CV (in English) and a cover letter (in English) describing specifically how you fulfill the requirements stated in this volunteer opportunity. APPLICATIONS IN LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Due credit will be given to Online Volunteer upon completion.

Translation and interpretation
GNDR is the largest international network of civil society organisations working to strengthen resilience and reduce risk in communities. We connect frontline civil society organisations with national and international policymaking institutions and governments. We influence policies and practices by amplifying the voices of people most at risk. Our vision is: A world in which everyone works together to strengthen the resilience of people most at risk and prevent hazards from becoming disasters. The network is vibrant and fast-growing, presently consisting of more than 1500 member organisations, out of which more than 100 are French-speaking member organisations. Volunteers´ translation work will contribute to: keeping our French-speaking members who are spread across different countries updated and connected; sharing knowledge, experiences, and collaboration opportunities between our members; and strengthening the way GNDR members across the globe work together towards speaking with a collective voice that drives efforts into effective action in order to reduce risk and increase the resilience of the most vulnerable.

Keep this in mind:

Most organizations find the volunteers they need within just a few days and close the opportunities to more applications. So if you see a project that interests you, apply right away and make sure that you show the organization that you have the right skills and motivation for the task!

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV. By registering you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV. See the Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.
