Background and objectives
Hunger Reduction International - HRI, is looking for the support of online volunteers with strong proficiency in managing and/or have experience in natural resources management (NRM), climate change and livelihood projects and Conservation. 2019-2020 HRI is focusing to undertake research and draft proposals in the NRM components of Food Security and Livelihood programs. Within this overall focus area, this particular opportunity requires doing research and drafting an Ornithology/Avian Conservation Project proposal in support of endangered species. The volunteers will advise us how to design all stages of the project, help plan and carry out the research, prepare the project plan and draft the actual project proposal. Online volunteers will not submit any funding requests on behalf of the organization. The volunteers will work with HRI Programme Manager.
Sustainable natural resources management and climate change adaptation
Hunger Reduction International (HRI) is a humanitarian relief and development organization working towards the alleviation of systemic hunger in all its forms in Somali communities. The objective of this project is to research the endangered species in Somalia and an develop the strategy to conserve both species and environment
Volunteers: 4 needed
6-10 hours per week / 16 weeks in Rangeland Management and forestry; in climate change and environment conservation; in Ornithology, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field; Experience and demonstrated success in avian monitoring including bird identification by sight and sound; Knowledge of birds and their habitats, with specific experience monitoring coastal shorebirds, wading birds, gulls and terns; as well as project development and management experience.
