The Institut européen de coopération et de développement (IECD, https://www.iecd.org/en/) supports human and economic development in several countries through education, vocational training, youth employability and support to small enterprises. Over the past 25 year, IECD made training in tourism and hospitality one of its strategic areas of activities and has been supporting the creation or strengthening of hospitality and catering schools. In 2016, IECD created a network of schools in Southeat-Asia, ASSET-H&C (http://assethc.org/), which aims to reach a wider impact at regional scale. ASSET-H&C currently gathers 14 member schools located in 5 countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam) and favors experience sharing, pooling of resources, promotion of best practices and, ultimately, the improvement of each school’ results. ASSET-H&C also aims to champion sustainable tourism best practices. The volunteer opportunity is offered in the frame of its “ecospitality” initiative which encourages tourism stakeholders to reduce the impact of their operations on the environment.
