Background and objectives
Volunteers will be asked to translate texts from English into simplified Chinese. All communications between the volunteer and the organisation will be in English. Volunteers will be asked to translate reports (2-15 pages), forms (2-6 pages) and other administrative documents (up to 15 pages). Documents will be assigned to volunteers depending on what is more urgent to IBJ in the moment the volunteer responds to the offer. Tasks will be assigned depending on the availability of the volunteer, so longer documents will be assigned to those who have more time available. These documents facilitate communication between IBJ's Headquarters in Geneva and their staff working on country programs.
Translation and interpretation
In recognition of the fundamental principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) is dedicated to protecting the basic legal rights of ordinary citizens in developing countries. Specifically, IBJ works to guarantee all citizens the right to competent legal representation, the right to be protected from cruel and unusual punishment, and the right to a fair trial.

Keep this in mind:

Most organizations find the volunteers they need within just a few days and close the opportunities to more applications. So if you see a project that interests you, apply right away and make sure that you show the organization that you have the right skills and motivation for the task!

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV. By registering you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV. See the Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.
