Task
Background and objectives
Requirements
1. Produce high quality software documentation including Software User Manuals, On-Screen Help, Business Requirement Documents, Software Technical Reference Manuals. 2. Ensure that documentation is written in plain or non-technical language (English) and is clear enough to help beginners and detailed enough to be useful for advanced users, developers and support technicians. 3. Design or find royalty-free graphics, pictures, or illustrations to enhance understanding of documented concepts.

Information Management Unit (IMU) at International Organization for Migration (IOM) Afghanistan has developed more than 20 software applications for the mission departments and government stakeholders. Most the applications are lacking proper documentation which an area for urgent consideration and improvement. On the other side, finding people with sufficient technical writing skills is a big challenge in Afghanistan. This volunteering opportunity will contribute intensively to fill in this gap and help the IOM-Afghanistan to establish a knowledge base/document library of high quality documents, templates and formats that could be shared and used in other missions of IOM across the world.
Volunteers: 3 needed
6-10 hours per week / 10 weeks
The volunteers should meet the following requirements at minimum: 1. Technical background (Computer Science). 2. Experience in writing Software Documentation (User Manuals, Software Technical Manuals, Requirement Documents, etc.). 3. Good at designing illustrations to support text. 4. Good understanding of software development life cycle. 5. Good understanding of Web Application Development technologies.
