Background and objectives
Requirements
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks for a motivated volunteer to provide substantive editorial support (i.e., editing and rewriting where needed, content reorganization and, in limited cases, producing original draft text if needed) for key knowledge products and country migration health profiles, and to follow up as needed with county focal points to ensure clarity and inclusion of the latest available information, as well as the best photos available.
Writing and editing
Communication, mass media and art
Based on internal assessment, there is a necessity to enhance the knowledge and capacity regarding Migration Health in the East and Horn of Africa (EHoA). Lack of knowledge and information related to recent issues and development of migration health have made most of the partners including donors in the region not to prioritize migration health issues. Therefore, it is important to ensure that our messages and stories of change and impact are pro-actively identified, packaged in formats that appeal and shared through multiple digital platforms optimizing, traditional, new and social media. To complement our in-house capabilities and capacity to deliver a world-class communication function, we are seeking a passionate volunteer. The volunteer will be engaged for a month (maximum) on specific deliverables.
Volunteers: 1 needed
6-10 hours per week / 4 weeks
The volunteer will have at least a University degree (Masters is preferred) in English or in any related field such as other languages, literature, social science, or political science, proven experience in editing and proofreading of English texts. Experience working with texts related to health migration especially in Africa is desirable.
