Background and objectives
Requirements
Of the species recorded, at least 20 families under Order Passeriformes, including the family of Birds-of-Paradise (Family Paradisaeidae), are represented in YUS CA making the protected area important for forest-dwelling passerines. The Foundation needs an expert to extract online acoustic sounds and produce a short radio awareness incorporating voice themes to promote the preservation and conservation of the Bird of Paradise in Papua New Guinea, specifically species found in the YUS CA in Huon District, Morobe Province Papua New Guinea.

The project which will be targeting the Huon District of Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. Targeting no less than 5,000 indigenous village people of TepTep Kabwum LLG within the YUS CA as project beneficiaries, the proposed project aims to: 1. To measure the level of awareness among target beneficiaries that will serve as basis in the implementation of the conservation education and community outreach campaign; 2. To increase the awareness of target beneficiaries in forest conservation by deepening their knowledge and understanding of the social, ecological and economic importance of ecosystems; 3. To improve the understanding among target beneficiaries on the roles of birds as ecological indicators for the status and changing forest conditions. The project is inline with the Foundations aim and objective in promoting the conservation of the rare and endangered species of flora and fauna found in Papua New Guinea.
Volunteers: 1 needed
6-10 hours per week / 3 weeks
The Foundation would recruit an expert volunteer who has done work in radio recording and awareness and must have the right equipment and software to undertake the task assigned. He or she must have experience in arts and Journalism and must have links to the copies of his or her work in radio production.
