Requirements
We would like the support of a volunteer to engineer the back end development of a new website for our new project (http://www.itakeactions.org). The project's goal is to enhance government transparency and accountability, and to improve citizen engagement and participation in governance. For years, we have been supporting children to access quality education. We hope to use active citizen engagement to check corrupt practices in the public system. The volunteer will get all the necessary information and communication will be mainly through Email, WhatsApp, and Google drive.
Technology development
Information technology and telecommunications
As an organization, we want to see a Nigeria where young people are empowered for quality living, free of social vices with enhanced productivity and well-being. With this website, we hope to be able to improve education and reduce poverty by using citizen engagement to expose corruption in public institutions and by public office holders. This will enable us to secure the future of many children who currently have lost hope of getting quality education and other relevant services such as quality medical care, etc. For example, basic education is suppose to be free in Nigeria but fees are being collected all over the country and no one is exposing it or trying to stop it. It is our desire that with this website, citizens will find a common place to make their voices heard, and be able to put pressure on political officers and public institutions to take an action.

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV. By registering you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV. See the Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.
