We would like the support of a volunteer to design a new website for our new project (http://www.itakeactions.org). The project's goal is to enhance government transparency and accountability, and to improve citizen engagement and participation in governance. For years, we have been supporting children to access quality education. We hope to use active citizen engagement to check corrupt practices in the public system. The online volunteer will work with a team of other volunteers. All the information will be provided by us and regular meetings might be required through Skype and WhatsApp. It would be great if the volunteer could also suggest/provide non-copyrighted images for the website.
As an organization, we want to see a Nigeria where young people are empowered for quality living, free of social vices with enhanced productivity and well-being. With this website, we hope to be able to improve education and reduce poverty by using citizen engagement to expose corruption in public institutions and by public office holders. This will enable us to secure the future of many children who currently have lost hope of getting quality education and other relevant services such as quality medical care, etc. For example, basic education is suppose to be free in Nigeria but fees are being collected all over the country and no one is exposing it or trying to stop it. It is our desire that with this website, citizens will find a common place to make their voices heard, and be able to put pressure on political officers and public institutions to take an action.
