Background and objectives
Requirements
The volunteers will work with the Executive Director (ED) and UX/UI team to develop the front end and back end of a platform based on the designs. The web platform is primarily to give students in Africa opportunities to gain real life work experiences. The team communicates and collaborates through Email, Slack, Trello and Real Time Board.
Technology development
Other information and telecommunications technology experience
As an organization, we are committed to using technology to advance education in Africa. This project is to further realize this mission. The project is to design and build a youth friendly web platform where students can find and undertake real life tasks to learn and gain work experiences. Education in Africa has been poor and most times, when students graduate, they are unable to find jobs because they lack the required skills. But this project will contribute in changing this narrative. As a volunteer, you will be helping to make this a reality.
Volunteers: 3 needed
1-5 hours per week / 24 weeks
Technologies to be used in development are ReactJS for frontend, NodeJS for backend, MongoDB for database. So the volunteers MUST be highly skilled in delivery on those technologies beyond the basics of HTML5 & CSS3 and be familiar with Git.

Keep this in mind:

Most organizations find the volunteers they need within just a few days and close the opportunities to more applications. So if you see a project that interests you, apply right away and make sure that you show the organization that you have the right skills and motivation for the task!

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV. By registering you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV. See the Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.
