Task
Background and objectives
Requirements
We are looking for three volunteers to carry out the following research tasks: (i) Conducting research about the adverse impact of business activities on women (ii) Identifying special barriers faced by women in accessing effective remedies for business-related human rights abuses (iii) Compiling good practices of integrating a gender perspective in implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) (iv) Complying existing standards that seek to adopt a gender lens to human rights (v) Going through stakeholder submissions and preparing summaries. The selected volunteers will receive the relevant documents and the guidance about different tasks by email. These tasks will provide an opportunity to the selected volunteer to become familiar with the UN Human Rights Council Special Procedure mechanisms and participate in developing a document aimed at protecting women against business-related human rights abuses.
Research
Gender equality and the advancement of women
These research activities will assist the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights in preparing its June 2019 report to the Human Rights Council on unpacking the gender lens to the UNGPs. The selected volunteers will receive the relevant documents and the guidance about different tasks by email.
Volunteers: 3 needed
6-10 hours per week / 26 weeks
- Knowledge about gender, women rights, and business and human rights. - Solid research, analysis and writing as well as computer skills. - Capability to work independently with minimum supervision. - Working knowledge of Spanish, French or Chinese would be an advantage
