Resource mobilization, partnership and donor coordination
The Refugee Welfare Association (REWAC) is an indigenous, non profit organization registered under Cameroon law in the year 2009. It has as a mandate the protection, promotion and the enforcement of the rights of refugees, migrants, asylum seekers and IDPs as enshrined in International Law to which Cameroon is a Signatory. According to the UN Refugee Agency, as of March 31st 2018, Cameroon hosts over 200,000 refugees and asylum seekers from 26 countries. The challenge in realizing their rights cannot be left in the hands of the Cameroon government alone or the UN Refugee Agency. Indigenous initiatives like REWAC are indispensable to complement efforts made by other international development partners and governments to address the challenges posed by these group of vulnerable persons. We need to raise the necessary funds to sustain an efficient and effective level of operations for our activities. One of the main sources of funding for initiatives like REWAC remains the international donor community. However, to source funding from donors has become very competitive. Hence, the need for strong, enviable and winning project proposals to access available funds.
