Background and objectives
Start with a Friend Austria was founded in July 2018 and currently has no financial support. Our team is working on a voluntary basis. As our German sister organization, Start with a Friend, is funded by the German government, they are unable to provide financial support for activities in Austria. To keep our organization working professionally and expanding throughout Austria, we need to find steady funding. It would be of huge help if we could find volunteers helping us to develop a fundraising strategy for our organizations, including the identification of funding opportunities. Volunteers will not be asked to submit funding requests on behalf of the organization. The staff of our sister organization in Germany is very happy to assist with this task. ATTENTION! GERMAN LANGUAGE NEEDED FOR THIS TASK. Thank you for your understanding.
Outreach and advocacy
Resource mobilization, partnership and donor coordination
Start with a Friend Austria is a charitable organization that promotes societal participation of refugees. We believe that integration can only work if people get a meaningful chance to play an active role in society. Our goal is to support refugees by pairing them with locals in "tandem partnerships". Ideally, these tandems will evolve into friendships and give refugees one-on-one help with the new challenges they face in Austria, while giving locals the opportunity to broaden their cultural horizons. We promote encounters that are personal, uncomplicated, and mutually beneficial. Start with a Friend Austria was founded in July 2018 and currently has no external financial support, therefore we rely on volunteers to help us achieve our goals.
Volunteers: 3 needed
1-5 hours per week / 15 weeks
Volunteers are required to sign our code of conduct to participate. The code of conduct requires respectful behavior and tolerance towards all religions, ethnicities, sexual preferences and genders. Previous relevant experience working with refugees, volunteering with an NGO, fundraising, etc. is a strong asset. To make the experience worthwhile for us and for you, it would be good if volunteers could commit to working with us for at least 3 months.
