Background and objectives
Urban October is a month in which United Nations invites governments, at all levels, institutions and civil organizations around the world to promote an awareness of urban issues, generating knowledge and involving the international community in the debate on sustainable urban development. Our organization is compiling a guide on how to organize Urban October events. The selected volunteer is expected to translate the whole guide from Portuguese into English. Total number of pages: 33 including images. The online volunteer will receive due credit for the contributions to the document.
Translation and interpretation
UN-Habitat established its Country Office in Angola in 2015. Since then, it has been working actively in several initiatives, including advice to the Ministry of Territorial Planning and Housing on the National Territorial Planning and Urbanization Policy, developing an Atlas of Urbanization of Angola and advocacy for the New Urban Agenda, including its translation into Portuguese from Angola, and promoting Urban October events. At the moment, our office is giving support to the Regional Office for Africa (ROAF) on developing a guidelines document to give standard orientations on how to prepare and organize each event. The translation will help disseminate the document to serve as a guide to more organizers.
