The Generation Equality Forum’s process was launched within the framework of the Beijing+25 review process, which took place in 2020. The Forum is based on principles of co-leadership amongst Governments, civil society, youth movements and the private sector and is building the largest and most diverse stakeholder base for gender equality. The Forum will culminate in Paris in June from 30 June to 2 July 2021. The Generation Equality Forum is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to advance women’s rights and ensure that gender equality is at the center of the recovery from COVID-19. Despite commitments made in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, progress has been slow, uneven and subject to reversal. The Forum is a critical opportunity to accelerate the implementation of the Beijing commitments and achievement of the SDGs during the Decade of Action and to build back greener, more equitably, in a gender-responsive and innovative manner. UN Women Europe and Central Asia Regional office supports partners in the region to be meaningfully prepared and substantially contribute to the forthcoming dialogue in Paris at the the Generation Equality Forum’s frame.
