Task
Background and objectives
Requirements
Online Volunteers will capture, disaggregate, and synthesize data to produce statistical analysis, outputs, and briefing notes. The results will be used for, inter alia, regional breakdowns with a focus on African states/Small Island Developing Countries/Least Developed Countries; mapping against thematic and cross-cutting areas such as climate-resilient agriculture and integrated water resources management; and aligning them with SDG targets and indicators in response to queries on project progress by various stakeholders. Volunteer (s) will contribute to stimulating the uptake of best practices and knowledge; improving the technical quality of advisory notes and publications. Volunteer(s) will receive detailed guidelines upon the commencement of their assignment.

UNDP Global Environmental Finance (GEF) Unit manages the partnerships with the environmental vertical funds such as Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF), while supporting countries on programming and implementation across interrelated technical areas: i) sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems; ii) sustainable, affordable and accessible energy services; iii) scaling up climate change adaptation and mitigation; iv) sustainable management of chemicals and waste; and v) improved water and ocean governance. Within this overall background, UNDP-GEF is looking for online volunteer(s) to support, under the guidance of the Executive Coordinator, oversight-related tasks of various projects under development. The online volunteer(s) will be involved in providing high quality technical support for programming, implementation oversight and knowledge and capacity development services to UNDP country offices, governments and inter-governmental organizations, NGO’s, donors, etc., in relation to UNDP-assisted climate change adaption and other interlinked projects.
Volunteers: 25 needed
6-10 hours per week / 26 weeks
Master’s degree in fields related to environment, climate change, energy, sustainable development. Expert proficiency in the use of statistical software (especially STATA) including its mapping capability functions.
