Background and objectives
The Global Support to NBSAP Project is seeking an online volunteer with strong translation experience whose native language is Russian to support the translation of materials for a massive open online course (MOOC) on BIOFIN. A background in biodiversity finance is preferred. The assignments are approximately 10,000 words and require a two to three week turn around for the initial translation and proofreading. Select submissions will be emailed to volunteers during the period 21 May to 28 May. We will select one online volunteer to conduct the initial translation, and one to proofread the translation. Quick turn around is essential for this project, and we will inform volunteers of timelines in advance.
Translation and interpretation
Volunteers will be asked to translate and proofread 6 online lessons for a massive open online course (MOOC) on BIOFIN. Lesson 1: Biodiversity and Sustainable Development introduces basic concepts in biodiversity and sustainable development. Lesson 2: Introduction to Biodiversity Finance introduces basic concepts involved in biodiversity finance, and introduces an overall framework that forms the basis for this module. Lesson 3: Conducting a Policy and Institutional Review for Biodiversity Finance introduces the steps involved in analyzing the key policies that drive biodiversity loss. Lesson 4: Conducting a Biodiversity Expenditure Review introduces the steps involved in reviewing biodiversity expenditures, both public and private. Lesson 5: Conducting a Financial Needs Assessment for Biodiversity introduces the steps in assessing the gap between the cost of implementing the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plan and the projected biodiversity expenditures in the future. Lesson 6: Developing a Biodiversity Finance Plan explains how to take the results from the various elements of the biodiversity finance process and develop a finance plan.
