Background and objectives
IPC-IG is looking for online volunteers to translate (English to Portuguese) knowledge products about social protection systems in South Asia. More specifically, in collaboration with IPC-IG’s researchers and other volunteers, the selected candidates will translate 6 research reports (ranging between 50 to 100 pages each).
Translation and interpretation
The IPC-IG is a joint project of the United Nations Development Programme and the Brazilian Government to facilitate South-South Cooperation on key development issues. Its mandate is to promote the production and dissemination of studies and policy recommendations, the exchange of best practices in development initiatives and the expansion of South-South cooperation. The volunteers will support the accomplishment of IPC-IG’s research agenda on social protection in South Asia, in partnership with the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia and the respective UNICEF country offices under its coordination – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Online volunteers will work remotely, mostly at a time and location of their convenience, and subjected to the deadlines set. They should be available to frequent online meetings (at least once a week), at specific times, to be agreed with the respective supervisor(s). They will receive a certificate of appreciation and can be acknowledged in the final publication of document as feasible.
Volunteers: 9 needed
11-20 hours per week / 12 weeks
Fluency in English – mandatory. Fluency in Portuguese – mandatory. Independent internet and laptop access – mandatory. Availability for meetings – mandatory. Translation experience – highly desirable. Background on English/Portuguese studies, political science, social sciences, international relations, development studies and/or on social protection – highly desirable. Experience in online research and/or report writing – highly desirable. Please upload your CV in English and/or Portuguese.
