Background and objectives
The Knowledge Project is planning a Knowledge Forum from 25 to 27 August 2020 title 'COVID-19: Accelerating the steps towards the knowledge society'. For this, the project is seeking the services of a volunteer specializing in simultaneous interpretation from English to Arabic and vice versa. The volunteer will be assigned to instantaneously interpret 7 sessions of the forum (opening session, three discussion sessions and three 'talk with the expert' sessions). The total number of hours of simultaneous interpretation will be 5 hours and 45 minutes. The simultaneous interpreter might be also asked to translate some text related to the forum prior the event. The total time of interpretation and translation will not exceed 10 hours.
Translation and interpretation
The Knowledge Project is a partnership between UNDP and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation seeking to promote knowledge generation and dissemination in the Arab region and beyond since 2008. It builds on three Arab Knowledge Reports, the Arab Knowledge Index, the knowledge4all portal, the Arab Reading Index, the Future of Knowledge Report and the Global Knowledge Index (GKI). Stemming from a common vision and continued effort to disseminate knowledge and develop the skills of youth of the Arab States region, the United Nations Development Programme and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation are planning a Knowledge Forum to be held from 25 till 27 August 2020. The aim of this forum is to create virtual dialogues to discuss various knowledge issues and opportunities to accelerate the steps toward knowledge societies. The COVID-19 pandemic has initiated a paradigm shift on the level of the society and its organizations. We are offered an opportunity to build back better based on the lessons learnt thanks to the virus outbreak.
