The objective of UNFPA Sierra Leone is to end the unmet need for family planning. In Sierra Leone, adolescents ages 10-19 constitute to 24.3 per cent of the national population and the birth rate among adolescent is high at 125 births per 1000 women aged 15-19 years. As part of the efforts to reduce the high rates of teenage pregnancies in Sierra Leone, UNFPA has been partnering with government, to establish a youth advisory panel that is tasked to advise government and it's partners on the gaps preventing adolescents from accessing sexual and reproductive health information and services. The young people are mentored and guided on the most effective ways to advocate and create awareness of the importance of sexual and reproductive health rights in their communities in order to influence change. This role is, therefore, an opportunity for an Online volunteer to get hands-on experience, designing content that will support young people to promote adolescent sexual health and inform their peers.
