Background and objectives
Under the general guidance of the Communication Team, the online volunteer will support communications and public outreach and will be asked to transliterate a series of audio interviews (up to 15 audio pieces) into text. The duration of each interview is about 15-20 mins. Some of the texts may be in broken English, as the locals initially speak Pidgin (English + Melanesian).

Journalism, mass media and broadcasting
UNDP supports the Government of Solomon Islands in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustaining its growth trajectory by modernizing institutions, reducing inequalities, digitally transforming communities, combating climate change and sustainably managing natural resources. Therefore, UNDP Solomon Islands Communication Strategy, in Q4 2021, foresees one big communication campaign, to be launched with the exhibition at the National Art Gallery, and an increased UNDP’s presence in media through engaging Country Manager and Project Managers to participate in radio programmes, publishing op-eds in local media and provide comments on certain topics to be included in media pieces.

Keep this in mind:

Most organizations find the volunteers they need within just a few days and close the opportunities to more applications. So if you see a project that interests you, apply right away and make sure that you show the organization that you have the right skills and motivation for the task!

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV. By registering you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV. See the Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.
