Background and objectives
UNODC is looking for one online volunteer to edit one background study related to prison management in Indonesia. Specifically, the online volunteer will assist in editing the English version of the guidelines on community-based engagement rehabilitation and reintegration programme for violent extremist prisoners in Indonesia. To this end, the volunteer will conduct the following tasks: • Assemble all chapters/sections of the background study; • Suggesting re-writing as necessary; • Adding/editing boxes of interest, tables and charts; • Point out factual inconsistencies, inconsistencies in arguments, political nuances, faulty logic and awkward or unclear passages and suggest solutions; • Ensure all references are in order, requesting source information for tables and figures when such information is missing. The online volunteer will be working under the direct supervision of the National Programme Coordinator and the overall guidance of the Country Manager.

Rule of law, judicial and national legal system reform
The UNODC Programme Office in Indonesia (POIDN) supports the Government of Indonesia (GoI) in its implementation of strategies and effective interventions to enhance the criminal justice system’s responses to many challenges. Including challenges, the Directorate General of Corrections (DGC) faces in managing Violent Extremist Offenders (VEP). As part of its collaboration, UNODC and DGC are establishing guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) on community engagement-based programme for the rehabilitation and reintegration of VEPs. This project supports UNODC and DGC to fulfil its quality assurance process for producing knowledge and advocacy products. Primarily, the project aims to meet the editorial and production standard of UNODC publications. Therefore, the online volunteer will help bring one background study to its full completion, including all necessary components within the context of the issue/topic covered in the background study. The online volunteer will contribute to prison reform in Indonesia to align prison management with international standards. Therefore, the online volunteer will contribute to the fulfilment of Goals 16 of the SDGs.
Volunteers: 1 needed
11-20 hours per week / 2 weeks
The candidate must have a solid command of English (native speaker). This task requires a strong mastery of English and its subtleties. Strong editing skills are required. Familiarity with technical terms related to the criminal justice system will be considered an advantage. Please indicate editorial experiences in your application and provide your portfolio (if available). The selected candidate will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement for this project.
