Background and objectives
The online volunteers' main task is to identify and describe, in a comprehensive manner, experiences where the value of volunteerism is mainstreamed as an indispensable resource for reaching out to the projects and programmes targets. This includes: - Fulfill a digital form with relevant information to explain the methodology, results, and lessons learned of volunteer components/schemes in UN development projects and programmes. - Interview the UN Volunteers that are leading the implementation of volunteer components/schemes; as well as their respective supervisors, if needed. - Review relevant programming documents - Land a step by step approach to involve citizen participation through volunteer action - Work on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to develop evidence on how does the mapped volunteer initiative has increased the impact of the UNs project and programmes.

UN Volunteers strongly believe that those projects and programmes which integrate volunteer components/volunteer schemes, are more willing to achieve greater results in terms of scale, scope, inclusiveness, sustainability and ownership. Briefly, greater impact is achieved if a bottom-up approach is considered. Volunteerism, known as the way to involve citizen participation through volunteer action, is one of the main ways to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, where nobody is left behind and where all voices are heard, especially those from the most vulnerable groups. However, volunteerism is still underestimated. This said, the online volunteer opportunities aim to establish a team to develop volunteer-based knowledge products, including methodologies, results and lessons learned. The cases selected should be led or currently lead by one or more UN Volunteers in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Online volunteering is rewarding and empowering, but it’s also a serious commitment. When you are chosen for an assignment, the organization is counting on you to complete it.

Our online volunteer community is made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals who enjoy bringing out the best in each other and in the organizations they serve. We expect all volunteers to maintain high standards of behaviour, and to refrain from any activity that could be detrimental to the assignment, the organization, other volunteers, or to UNV.
