Background and objectives
The UNRCO seeks a dynamic and highly motivated Online Volunteer to assist in research (public policy/governance) with strong understanding of the governance structure in Thailand. Specifically, the Online Volunteer is asked to: - Determine a top-level typology of geographically disaggregated Provincial level data - Identify and collate comprehensive list of sources to acquire the data, including national databases/statistical authorities that provide data in useful formats - Per typology, acquire Provincial level data and produce snapshot overviews of (at least) three identified Provinces, that are user friendly - Undertake translation of specific data, other texts, as required
Political affairs and political reporting
The UN in Thailand seeks to promote the meaningful systematic inclusion and participation in local development planning and budgeting processes, including of marginalized groups. This aims to ensure more effective delivery of services and to regenerate trust in public institutions. To sensitively implement these interventions, including aimed at localizing SDGs, the UN seeks to better understand the context at a more granular local level, from a political, social, economic, fiscal, budgetary, urban/rural, and other perspectives.
Volunteers: 1 needed
20+ hours per week / 5 weeks
- Strong drafting skills in English, and ability to translate/summarize at speed. - Good knowledge of central and local governance structures in Thailand. - Proven ability to undertake research independently and collaboratively, under remote guidance, as required.
