Background and objectives
As an organization working in Ghana and interested in youth development issues, we would like to conduct research that will explore the state of youth development in Ghana. This will include a review of existing national development report, projects and policies to understand and estimate the role of young people in development and how young people are conceptualized or supported by policies and programmes. Another aim of the report will be to understand the opportunities and constraint young people face in Ghana including for instance with respect to education, employment, etc. The report shall also draw on secondary literature. Policy recommendations are likely to be made out of the report. We will acknowledge the role of online volunteers in the report as well as show appreciation for their contributions once the report is done.
Political affairs and political reporting
Ghana is known to be one of the peaceful and economically growing countries in Africa. The nation has a youth population which obviously warrants government attention in addressing the needs of young people. Over the past years, a number of policies and programmes have been put into place to address the challenges young people face and also to empower them. YPWC is one of the youth organizations in Ghana that is championing the role of young people in development issues. We have found it needful to conduct research that explores the state of youth development in Ghana including what kind of interventions are in place, what challenges do young people face and how can we address them better.
