During the last three years, the Anglophone Crisis has engulfed Cameroon in a brutal conflict. What started as peaceful strikes to end the marginalization of English-speaking regions in the country quickly turned into violent revolts, with government forces and anti-government forces clashing, plunging the country into destructive conflict. It remains unclear how and when the crisis will end. To date, over 2 000 civilians have been killed, 180 villages have been burnt down and some 160 000 refugees have settled in Nigerian camps while more than 200 000 citizens have been considered internally displaced persons (IDPs), the majority of them being women. CAEPA aims at protecting women and children by providing early intervention, ease of reporting, access to counseling and healthcare as well as educating the perpetrators and would-be perpetrators on gender equality and women’s rights.
