Contexto y objetivos
The online volunteer will analyse data sets from 169 sites for the variable on the quantity of water collected per person per day. The objective is to calculate the mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation for each data sets and produce a frequency plot/distribution. This distribution will be used to estimate the actual service level categories for the households in each site following the Sustainable Development Goal service levels. If the selected volunteer is interested, a journal publication could be developed in collaboration with UNHCR staff based on the results of this analysis.
Monitoreo y evaluación
UNHCR collects detailed data on the access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services in camps. This information is displayed on the website: One of the key indicators that is reported is the average quantity of water collected per person per day. Reporting an average can hide the variability in service that refugees receive. The online volunteer will assist in analyzing the available data sets to determine the specific distribution curve for each site. This curved will be used as part of the automated conversion system with the UNHCR WASH monitoring system to convert the 16 core indicators of the UNHCR WASH monitoring system to the Sustainable Development Goal indicator for safely managed water supply (6.1).
