Contexte et objectifs
Permission has been received from author of MIT courseware in calculus to import the course to PEOI. These course pages are in PDF files which can't be converted directly to HTML. Some of the text can be extracted with the new Acrobat Reader. But the equations must written in MathMl using MathCast, and imbedded into a rtf, txt or HTML file which is then uploaded to PEOI, and imported into PEOI's HTML course pages. MIT calculus course is an entire textbook with exercises and test questions. The equations and formulas must be transcribed, and will be converted to MahtMl. Familiarity with MathMl is absolutely essential. MathCast allows to write MathMl and can be downloaded free of charge. The course contains 16 chapters with an average of 40 pages in each chapter. It is anticipated that each typist will be responsible for just one chapter.

PEOI is a non-profit organization started in 1999, and now run by over 8000 volunteers, that delivers complete university level courses online in eleven languages free of charge. PEOI's courses include interconnected learning tools with submission of assignments, class discussions and automated graded tests, that allow PEOI to award course completion certificates.
